Design
I got these two pens at the same time and there were definitely some differences in my experience straight away.
Looking closely, the stainless steel version had better machining on the Parker logo, arrow clip and “France” engraving on the top of the pen. It felt as though they took more time with it over the plastic body version.
I love the retro look on the plastic version with the metal tip protector, its a more interesting pen than the stainless version.
Writing
If I am being honest I prefer the easier to grip plastic version. Don’t get me wrong, both are great writers and its really not a major issue if you’re considering one or the other.
Refill Performance
The stainless Steel version – buttery smooth with the default Quinkflow 1.0 medium (Blue)
Plastic body – Stop and started, was very inconsistent laying down the ink and after a day of trying to get this to work i had to bin the refill… A lost cause.
NOTE: The refill in the plastic body version didn’t have HM DOC on it – Potentially an older version.
Pro’s
- Takes any Parker G2 refill – Lots of options with this pen
- Fantastic click action – Its iconic (Quieter on the plastic body version)
Con’s
- Machining not as precise on the plastic body version
- Refill in the plastic Parker Jotter version didn’t work well
Notes
I swapped the tops of the jotters so the nicely machined version is now on the plastic body and the other one for the full meta body.
The new smooth Parker Quinkflow 1.0 Medium is in the Blue Jotter and an old refill is now in the stainless pen.
I ended up using the plastic body version more and this is the one that has stayed at work.
The plastic body version (after the changes above) is the winner.

- Matches my work notebook color
